BEIJING – Spain defeated Australia in double OT to advance to the FIBA World Cup final, with a chance to win their second gold medal in the competition.
When the Spanish selection grabbed its first one in 2006, Ricky Rubio was still underage and won gold with the U16 European Championship squad. Now, he looks forward to being part of another success for Spain.
“I was winning the gold with the U-16 team [in 2006]. Guess I have a shot at the real deal now, don’t I?”, he told the press after the game.
