Australia was defeated by France in the FIBA World Cup third-place game and coach Lemanis focused on how dedicated his players were throughout the tournament, reaching the best position for the nation ever, even outside the podium.
“Where the biggest hurt comes from is having a group of guys who are so committed, so passionate about playing for their national team, they certainly don’t do it for the money. They commit their offseasons because they want to represent their country on the world stage and do something special. To see the hurt in those guys, that’s hard to overcome. I’m really proud of the team and the way we played”, Lemanis commented at the press conference that followed the game.
