He declared himself almost ready for his return to action, but Milos Teodosic admitted to Novosti that he is very sorry he missed the 2019 FIBA World Cup and expressed similar feelings for Sasha Djordjevic stepping down. Taking into account the several injury woes, the 32-year-old guard called fifth place at China an acceptable finish.
“I am sorry that I was not able to travel to China, but injuries are part of our careers. We have to face these difficult moments,” commented Teodosic on not being able to help Serbia in the World Cup, “I didn’t know right away that I was going to miss the World Cup, but I felt it wasn’t good.”
“It’s a lot harder to watch. You get even more nervous. When you play, you don’t think much” he mentioned on being sidelined and confessed, “We knew that after many years we were considered favorites. We as players also had high expectations. Due to the injuries, I can’t call it a failure. At the end of the day fifth place is acceptable.”
“I am very sorry Sasha Djordjevic left. We haven’t talked about it, but I understand and accept his decision” Teodosic replied to a question on his current Segafredo Virtus Bologna head coach departing the Serbian national team following the conclusion of the World Cup.
“It depends on my body. I can’t say it will happen in one, two or three years,” he answered on how much more years he will play for Serbia and underlined, “I would like to win a gold medal in any competition before finishing my career with the national team.”
“I had my first full workout on Friday. In about ten days I should be ready for game action” said Teodosic on his return to action at club level, “I really can’t wait. It’s been a while since my last official game.”
