Llull prefers Real over NBA

On Thursday Real Madrid announced the renewal of Sergio Llull’s contract with the team until the summer of 2018. It’s still unclear if the deal includes an NBA buy out. Chances are that there isn’t one, or if there is, it would be about 2,5 million euros for the NBA and 3,5 million euros for every other European team, like in Nikola Mirotic’s contract.

However, according to sources close to the situation, Llull is not interested in going to the NBA. That’s why he prefered to secure himself with a lucrative long term deal with one of Europe’s biggest clubs. As he said in the Spanish news agency EFE: “I want to finish my contract and then maybe even sign one more with the team, who knows, I want to spend my whole life in Real Madrid”.

Back in 2009 the Denver Nuggets picked Llull with the 34th pick of the draft and then sold his rights for a record $2,25 million to Houston Rockets, the biggest sum of money spend on the rights of a player who was picked in the second round. It’s seems that all that money went down the drain and GM Daryl Morey should cross Llull’s name from his list for good.
