Sarunas Jasikevicius’s relationship with media has never been harmonious. There were many incidents to prove it. But on the occasion of the series Panathinaikos-Maccabi for Euroleague quarterfinals, his snobbery to Israeli media was emerged again. Since his divorce with 1998’s Miss World, Linor Abargil, he has visited a few times Tel Aviv, but in two weeks it will be the first time to face his “favorite”, as he stated, Maccabi.
The chance of his return to Nokia Arena is too good for Israelis to let it go unused without any interview, but so far they have heard only “no”. And probably the veteran Lithuanian will continue to say it to any other request. He has spent at least five years after his last interview in Israel and as it is well known “Saras” is … stubborn. Probably he wants to avoid any gossip conversation about his ex-wife, but with him nobody knows!
Something similar, but not in such degree, happens with Milos Teodosic when he needs to talk to Greek journalists. He hasn’t announced an embargo, but he gives very few selective interviews.
