It was one of the big disputes of the summer, but now it is finally over. FIBA ruled in favour of Zach Wright in his case with Panionios and the American point guard will have no problem to continue playing for Spartak Saint Petersburg.

The Greek team had protested that his signing from the Russians was illegal, as he had previously signed a team with them. His American agent Scott Nickols was clear from the beginning that the signature in the contract with Panionios was not his client’s and FIBA agreed with that claim.

At least Panionios “won” inside the Greek borders their legal battle against their former player Giannis Giannoulis whose lawsuit was rejected by the Greek court. Giannoulis though plans to file a second one against Panionios.
