After leaving Olympiacos, Joey Dorsey gave his share of interviews – you can read the one in Eurohoops here – but this time, what he said in the Greek basketball magazine “All Star Basket” raised some eyebrows.
Dorsey accused Vassilis Spanoulis for luck of respect: “For the first time in my career, I saw a teammate deciding my role on the team. How many touches I would have in offense, if I should have the ball and all that. That’s the job of the coach. He is the one who should say to his players what do. Spanoulis said to me: “Joey just play defense and don’t worry about getting the ball”. I respect all my teammates, but that was a lack of respect towards me. When I respect someone, I expect the same respect in return. Maybe my reaction wasn’t the proper and it’s true that I paid for it, because after that I couldn’t continue play for the Euroleague champions. But the reason behind all that was wrong”.
