Euroleague asking for punishment

The letter send by Euroleague CEO Jordi Bertomeu to Panathinaikos was harsh, but the serial will not end with this action. According to Eurohoops sources, the Euroleague’s independent disciplinary judge will open a case against Panathinaikos president Dimitris Giannakopoulos.

It will be interesting to see the result of this procedure, since it may be the first time that a team official gets punished by Euroleague. It was a decision taken on Wednesday and the letter send the same night by Giannakopoulos to Bertomeu didn’t change anything.

After the aggressive press release of Panathinaikos towards Euroleague and also CSKA Moscow, Dimitris Giannakopoulos send the following personal letter, denied all his quotes after the end of Tuesday’s game against Barcelona: “Mr Bertomeu, I would like to express my concern, for one more time, for the continuous lack of respect from referees towards my team, the 6 times Euroleague champion Panathinaikos. Those incidents of disrespect are hurting the sport that we all love. I didn’t made any statements the last days and everything that is written and published in the media is something that you should discus with the media that you are referring to. Of course, I respect your request about taking security measures, like I do from the start of the season, since I became the president of the end. Ending this letter, I ask from you that Panathinaikos, the team voted the best in Euroleague’s history, to be treated with RESPECT by Euroleague’s referees”.
