When Panathinaikos announced some extra security measures last week for the upcoming games against Barcelona, the team officials knew what should happen. After all the Greens have experience from the Greek league finals, where a net is used both in their home court and in SEF, the home court of Olympiacos. This net discourages the Ultras of both teams from throwing objects into the court and Panathinaikos will use it for the first time in a Euroleague game. You can see in the photo the net already positioned inside the OAKA arena.
Also Panathinaikos’ owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos invited publicly Euroleague CEO Jordi Bertomeu to visit Athens in order to attend the games of the Greens against Barcelona.
