Many rumors surrounding the bench of Spartak Saint Petersburg have been heard around Europe, but the coach who is ready to sing with the team is a former player born and raised in the Russian city. Vasily Karasev is expected to return to his hometown and to his first professional team. The talks between him and the club are more than advanced.
The even bigger news are the fact that his 20years old son Sergey, the best NBA prospect in Russia and a name that is expected to be heard in this year’s NBA draft, is also expected to sign with the team. Karasev junior wants to stay in Europe in order to improve his game as a starter in a team build around him in order to be fully ready for the jump to the NBA.
That was the case also this season in Russian club Triumph Lyubertsy and now the joint presence of both father and son in the city where they were born (Basily in 1971 and Sergey in 1993) is about to be a reality.
