Roma got the right to play in next season’s Euroleague as the runner up of Legabasket, but due to financial issues, the team renounced its spot in Europe’s top competition. As it was announced officially Roma would like to get a wildcard for next season’s Eurocup and its B license will be transformed into a wildcard.
Euroleague is “exploring initially as a priority maintaining the license within the same country”, however according to our sources, the club which will benefit from Roma’s decision is Budivelnyk. The Ukrainian champions want to be part of Euroleague and their wish is expected to be granted. The Euroleague’s wildcards will be approved officially on the league’s general assembly.
