Recordings of a conversation between Russian federation honorary president Sergey Chernov and CSKA’s president Andrey Vatutin were leaked to the public with the two of them speaking about the last elections despite being in opposing camps

In the recent elections of Russian basketball federation two candidates clashed, the new president Yulia Anikeeva and Svetlana Abrosimova who lost the elections. Russian federation honorary president Sergey Chernov was supporting Anikeeva, while CSKA‘s president Andrey Vatutin supported Abrosimova.

And now comes the strange part of the story. A recorded conversation between two persons who have been recognized as Chernov and Vatutin was leaked to the internet (and here is the full transcript unfortunately in Russian). The subject of the conversation is the elections, with Chernov telling Vatutin: “I can’t turn it around, there are only two days left”. Vatutin reacted by admitting a meeting with Chernov in order to “convince him to support Abrosimova”, however he clarified that nothing “illegal” happened in the meeting and he accused Chernov for recording and possibly leaking the conversation.
