The cold war is back, at least in basketball. On Sunday a tweet by Nenad Krstic informed the world that he was playing with injured toe for the last three weeks, but the doctors of CSKA Moscow didn’t diagnose the problem in time.
After that, all hell broke loose. There were reports of a broken toe and of him loosing the Euroleague Final Four’s games, but not any official word from the team about his situation. And on top of that, the notorious tweet mysteriously disappeared.
Finally on Tuesday morning the official CSKA Moscow site informed that the team “went to play shorthanded against one of the most dangerous teams of Russian league (ed.note: Spartak-Primorye). Ramunas Siskauskas continues his rehabilitation after right leg injury, Nenad Krstic will practice individually for a week because of left pinkie toe injury and will join his teammates after that, Jamont Gordon twisted his left ankle during the practice on Sunday. Andrey Kirilenko will undergo conservative therapy to treat the back pains”.
CSKA won Spartak in Vladivostoc 90-66 (Lavrinovic 18 p., Shved 17 p., Teodosic 15 p., 13 as.) and if all goes well, Krstic will be back in practices within a week and he will play in the Final Four. We have to add that Russian newspaper Sport-Εxpress has a different opinion and insists that Krstic will miss at least four weeks of practices and that means also the Final Four.
