Just one day after the decision of the Labor court of Limoges against Panagiotis Giannakis, former coach of Limoges CSP, which imposed him a 50.000 euros fine, not only the representatives of the Greek coach are getting ready for an appeal, but they uncovered the promise of Limoges’ president Frederic Forte to help him get the job of the French national team coach.
According to Giannakis side, everything is fabricated from Forte. In order to convince the Greek coach to get the job at Limoges, not only Forte was willing to let him work also in a national team, but there’s also a written statement from him, dated at the 2nd of June 2012 in which he states: “I am 100% sure that we will build something big and I promise that I would do anything in order to help you with the French national team. In all honesty, it’s not something that I am doing only for you, but also for the results that our national team could have”.
Of course, despite the fact that Giannakis had a two years contract with the French club, after a mediocre first season, Forte wanted to release him, without any kind of compensation for the second year of the contract. The excuse he used was the deal of Giannakis with the Chinese national team. It has to be noted that Giannakis’ contract with the Chinese federation had special clauses in order to let him work without any distraction during the season for Limoges and everything was fixed according to the French club’s schedule.
