Gustavo Ayon has cleared his Spanish league rights situation with Barcelona and his signing with Real Madrid for the next two seasons is officially fact! Despite being a last minute addition to the roster, the Mexican center has proved during the FIBA World Cup that he can be an asset for any top team, but his presence may push Salah Mejri to the exit door.
After a break out season back in the 2013 with Obradoiro, Mejri signed with Real Madrid and now is the third string center, as the team also has the duo of Giannis Bourouris and Marcus Slaughter. Mejri signed a one year deal last summer, which included a renewal option for the upcoming season. This option was picked up by the team, but it remains to be seen if he will lose his role in the rotation with Ayon coming onboard.
