Something is wrong in Galatasaray and we don’t refer only to the 69-67 defeat by Banvit for the second gameday of Turkish TBL. Coach Ergin Ataman and point guard Nolan Smith are at odds, as it was evident in the second quarter of the game with the player throwing a towel towards the coach.
Smith was substituted after five minutes of action and that was his reaction, as you can see in this video. Ataman didn’t hide his feelings for what happened and as he announced after the game, the player will train with the juniors and he may need to find a new team. Ataman said according to reports from Turkish media: “This is the second time he behaves like this. If he continues, we will need to find a new player and he will need to find a new team”.
UPDATE: On Monday morning Smith apologized for his actions via twitter.
