After a great season in Maccabi Tel Aviv, Yogev Ohayon could be the next big export of Israeli basketball. It makes complete sense if you know the details of his contract. According to this document he will be paid 200.000$ next season and the same amount of money is his buy out clause.
There is a rumor about a lawyers’ mistake who put a buy out in the contract for this summer, instead of the original intention, which was summer of 2013. The bottom line is the player has offers from Russia, Italy and Spain for more than 600,000 euros per season and the best raise that he can get from Maccabi is to be paid 230.000$ for next season. That’s why Maccabi’s owner David Federman attacked him on the radio: “A year ago no one knew who Ohayon was. He became famous because of us. We will speak to him through our lawyers. I don’t mind taking this case to court”.
