The “rule” says that a team should have much better winning record in its domestic league than in the Euroleague. But Laboral and Galatasaray are the exceptions. Read the winning record of all Top 16 teams!
Two days before the end of 2014, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Laboral lost in the Liga Endesa at the same day. How possible was that? And how much does the Euroleague games affect the teams who take part in competitive leagues?
Every Euroleague team is expected to lose every season some domestic games because its players would be tired or focused on the previous/next Euroleague game, but the “rule” says that a team usually should have a better winning record in the domestic league.
Laboral breaks this “law”, because its results in the Euroleague are better than in the Spanish league, where the club is on the verge of not taking part in the Cup Final Eight! The same stands relatively for Galatasaray which has similar percentage of wins in both leagues and of course that may cost in the strong Turkish league.
In the same category we can’t include of course, CSKA Moscow. They have a better winning record in the Euroleague (10-0) than in the VTB League (12-1) but we are talking about one only defeat in the season and we can’t “judge” them because of that.
