The team from Nea Smyrni, Greece, will go to FIBA arbitrational court for Zach Wright’s case, having as a “weapon” the contract of the American point guard who could have left for an other European team until the 15th of July

Spartak Saint Petersburg announced the signing of Zach Wright for 2 seasons, but Panionios has a different opinion. Team Of Nea Smyrni will go to FIBA arbitrational court, like they did in 2005 for Travis Watson and in 2008 for Ibrahim Jaaber and having in mind that they have a signed contract with the player, it’s highly possible that they’ll win the case, like they did with the other two American players.

The side of the player argues that the contract is only signed by the Greek representative of the player, Thanos Koukouravas. But Panionios insists that also the American point guard has put his signature on the agreement, in which there was a “buy out” clause until the 15th of July. Wright could have left for a team that was playing in Euroleague, or in Eurocup, or Eurochallenge but the deadline expired four days ago. Therefore Panionios will go to FIBA, since owner of the club Ilias Lianos is very strict with these matters.
