Slums Dunk was born on 2011 from an idea of Bruno Cerella an Italo-argentinian professional basketball player of EA7 Olimpia Milano.
The project aims at improving the life conditions of children and youth living in the community of Mabathini (Mathare slum, Nairobi). Mathare is one of the largest slums in Africa and the second in Nairobi. The oganization will soon come also in Monze /Zambia .
Sports are one of the few tools they have chosen to involve, mobilize and attract the beneficiaries and will be used to facilitate life skills and health education in 20 informal primary schools located in the slum.
Dimitris Diamantidis, Vasilis Spanoulis, James Gist, Kyle Hines, Pops Mensah Bonsu and other pro well known players got already involved by donating their jerseys signed by their teamates in a try to raise money and awareness about this amazing project.
This week you can find at Charity Stars website James Gist’s jersey signed by other PAO players! The expiration time is 7th of April at 19:00 CET Time.
Sports have a common language that people around the world can speak. Sports have no borders or limits. Sports bind people together and don’t divide them. Like the official Facebook of Slums Dunk Here and Follow them on Twitter.
