Peristeri and Promitheas will have the chance to win the first-ever Greek Super Cup on Thursday’s final after upsetting respectively Panathinaikos and AEK. Playing against the two main title contenders, the two outsiders started the season with a bang.
Peristeri prevailed over Panathinaikos by eight points (90-82), finishing the game with a 6-0 run after the Greens cut the lead to two (84-82) with 77 seconds left before the final buzzer.
Terran Petteway scored 26 points, while Panagiotis Vasilopoulos and Marvin Jones added 14 each for the winning side. Nemanja Nedovic was the top scorer of Panathinaikos with 18 points.
Promitheas finished the game with a 23-3 run and got the 98-88 win over AEK. Ian Miller with 24 points, Michalis Lountzis with 21, and Charis Giannopoulos (photo) with 19.
The writings were on the wall with Giannopoulos and Miller having 10/13 threes and Promitheas in total 16/26 for an amazing 61%. Jonas Maciulis scored 20 points for AEK.
