AEK Athens will be parting ways with head coach Ilias Papatheodorou following Saturday’s (11/4) Greek League loss to Kolossos Rhodes.
The decision of AEK to dismiss Papatheodorou was taken after also considering the elimination of the team in the Basketball Champions League Round of 16 and the fact that the team failed to move past the Greek Cup quarterfinals. The team’s loss in the 2020 BCL championship game in the Final 8 that was held in Athens, was taken into account as well.
Georgia coach Ilias Zouros (he last coached a club on Peristeri in 2019) and former Panathinaikos Athens coach George Vovoras are on AEK’s agenda as potential candidates for the soon-to-be vacant head coach post.
