AEK has agreed on a deal with coach Vangelis Angelou for the remainder of the 2020-21 season with the contract including an option for the next season as well.
Angelou, 58, in his first head coaching job, guided AEK through most of the 2007-08 season. He has since offered his services to several Greek teams. His resume also includes Anadolu Efes which he took over in the 2013-14 season.
This season, the experienced Greek boss kept Ionikos Hellenic Coin at a safe distance from relegation in the Greek league. His current side ranks 9th in the Basket League standings with a 7-14 tally.
AEK, after being eliminated from the Basketball Champions League Final 8 and parting ways with Ilias Papatheodorou, carries a 14-6 record with two games remaining prior to the playoffs.
