Panathinaikos forward Ioannis Papapetrou was named MVP of the 2021-22 Greek League following a voting by team captains and media. He succeeds his former Panathinaikos teammate Nick Calathes who had MVP in 2017, 2018 and 2019 (there was no MVP in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic).

“It’s a great honor for me to be named MVP via this voting and I thank those who voted for me,” Papapetrou said per the Greek League. “For me, team successes are always more important and I never put my personal distinction above the team.”

Papapetrou averaged  13.9 points, 4.04 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 25:06 minutes over 28 games as Panathinaikos won the championship title. He was received nine MVP votes out of the 24 Greek League captains, while runner-up Tyson Carter (Lavrio) got four votes.
