Panathinaikos rolls PAOK in Papapetrou’s return

Following the loss to archrival Olympiacos in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Round 30 action, Panathinaikos OPAP bounced back beating Kolossos H Hotels last week and FC Bayern Munich Tuesday and went on by prevailing, 77-67, versus PAOK mateco in Athens Saturday night.

Sidelined the last two months, captain Ioannis Papapetrou (nose) was finally cleared and logged 11 points in the Stoiximan Basket League Regular Season Round 19 affair. Former NBA center Giorgos Papagiannis paved the way with 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists to his name.

The team guided by Dimitris Priftis never trailed with the margin growing over 20 points before a late push by the visitors. Lefteris Bochoridis (wrist) and Stefan Jovic (thigh) remained on the injury list.

The Greens went up to 16-1 and forced the team based in Thessaloniki down to 7-9. Olympiacos follows second in the Greek league standings packing a 14-1 W-L record. Promitheas at 10-4 and Kolossos at 10-6 round up the teams featuring double-digits in the win column.

In earlier action, Lavrio Megabolt improved to 7-10. The team guided by Christos Serelis edged Ionikos, 91-84, on the road. Captain Vassilis Mouratos produced 26 points, nine assists, three steals, and two rebounds in a brilliant showing lifting his side to 7-10. Muhaymin Mustafa led the slumping home side with 24 points.

At Patras, Iraklis notched a double-overtime win, 95-89, over Apollon Oscar. Keyshawn Woods and Jamar Abrams both logged 21 points.
