Olympiacos swept Panathinaikos with a 93-74 victory in Game 3 to be crowned Greek League champion for the first time since 2015-16.
The Piraeus side, which returned to the Greek Basket League in 2021-22 following two years of competing in the second division, captured its 13th domestic league trophy, in front of a packed Peace and Friendship Stadium. Olympiacos closes off the season by winning both the championship and the Greek Cup.
Game 3 also marked the final one for Olympiacos‘ captain Georgios Printezis, who received a standing ovation from the fans in attendance. Printezis ends a long career with four overall Greek League trophies and two EuroLeague titles.
Sasha Vezenkov scored 25 points, along with six rebounds and three assists to help Olympiacos end the series with the sweep. Sloukas followed with 14 points, while Kostas Papanikolaou and Shaquielle McKissic both added 10.
Early in the game, Nemanja Nedovic fired up 12 points for Panathinaikos to keep his team ahead with a short lead in the second quarter, though Olympiacos took advantage of his rest time and with a 23-5 run by the middle of the second period gained a 55-40 lead at halftime.
Panathinaikos fought back in the third quarter to trim the deficit to 10 points (63-53). Kostas Sloukas hit back-to-back threes to keep the hosts on top and Olympiacos’ lead rose to 73-56 with 6 minutes to play.
Nedovic tapped a game-high with 23 points and Georgios Papagiannis posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
