Panathinaikos almost lost against Peristeri and dropped a 20-point advantage in the fourth quarter. Coach Dejan Radonjic talked about the problems after a very close victory.
“After the third quarter, I was thinking about which player to put in, the next game, since there is also a double matchday in the Euroleague, while we were also coming from a Euroleague trip…“.
The 53-year-old Montenegrin coach was asked to further explain the slump in the fourth period
“If I counted correctly, we made 9 mistakes in the last period. Not only that, but an easy basket followed every time. This was very hard for us. We were thinking about the end game. Some played more minutes than we expected, for example in the end we had both point guards on the floor. Walters played 33 minutes and was tired, hence the many mistakes. But we weren’t good in defense either.”
As for the possibility of reinforcements (the first “window” in the Euroleague expires on 9/1, i.e. for players already participating in the competition with another team): “We always look at the market. We’ll see what’s available and discuss transfers.“
