Team Walkup beat Team Sloukas 177-165 in the All-Star Game of the Greek league which was held in the city of Karditsa, in a symbolic move after the devastating floods that ravaged the area around the city in September.
With the teams being selected with Olympiacos‘ Thomas Walkup being the captain on one side and Panathinaikos‘ Kostas Sloukas on the other, it was an interesting mix with Sloukas having his former Olympiacos teammates Kostas Papanikolaou and Giannoulis Larentzakis in his roster.
The MVP was another Olympiacos player, Isaiah Canaan, who played for Team Walkup and scored 27 points. PAOK’s Luka Brajkovic added 25 points on 7/7 threes, however in the three-point shooting contest, another PAOK player, Laurynas Beliauskas, won it all by beating Aris’ Vasilis Toliopoulos in the final.
Giorgos Bartzokas and Promitheas’ Ilias Papatheodorou were the coaches of Team Walkup, while Ergin Ataman and Peristeri’s Vassilis Spanoulis were the coaches of Team Sloukas.
Giorgos Bogris, who currently plays for Marousi, added 20 points for the winning side, while for Team Sloukas Aris’ Roberto Gallinat had 33 points, AEK’s Mfiondu Kabengele scored 28 points and Andrew Goudelock who is a member of Kolossos Rhodes added 21 points.
Peristeri’s Nate Renfro won the dunking contest and last but not least, former players Giannis Bourouris and John Korfas, plus veteran coach Soulis Markopoulos entered the Greek League Hall of Fame.
