Panathinaikos Athens defeated AEK 89 – 69 on the road to bounce back to wins in the Greek League following an upset at home last week by Aris Thessaloniki. The two teams will also face each other in the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup “Final Eight” tournament on Thursday.
The Greens, that were also coming from a EuroLeague victory over Fenerbahce Beko, improved to 17-1 to remain first in the standings while eighth-placed AEK dropped at 7 – 11.
Kendrick Nunn led Panathinaikos with 19 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Dinos Mitoglou had 10 points plus five rebounds and Jerian Grant scored 10 as well.
Jordan McRae produced 15 points plus five assists for AEK. Giannis Kouzeloglou posted 11 points and five rebounds while Brandon Knight had 10 points and four assists.
The game was interrupted for several minutes in the third period due to insults against referee Vasso Tsaroucha.
