Olympiacos Piraeus beat Promitheas Patras 80 – 69 in the team’s last game before the launch of the EuroLeague playoff series against Barcelona Wednesday. The Reds improved to 23-3 in the Greek League while their opponents dropped at 15 – 10.
Moses Wright led Olympiacos with 21 points plus five rebounds. Alec Peters added 17 points ad Moustapha Fall had 10 points. Their team led up to 18 points, closing the third quarter with a 62 – 44 advantage.
The shorthanded Promitheas (nine-man roster) reacted in the fourth period and trimmed that deficit to six, 68 – 62 with 3:56 to play. Wright and Peters gave Olympiacos a double-digit lead once more down more into crunch time.
George Papas had 14 points for Promitheas against his former team while Hunter Hale scored 13.
