After wrapping up the Stoiximan Basket League Play Outs and helping PAOK mateco clinch a berth in the Playoffs of Greece’s top-tier division, Kevin Porter Jr. discussed his future with the Greek club.
“If it is up to me, I don’t see myself, when it comes from the overseas standpoint if I am staying out here another year – if I have the opportunity to go back to the NBA, then I will probably go back to the NBA – but if it is not the NBA, I don’t want to play for another club than PAOK,” explained the 23-year-old American guard, “I feel like they have welcomed me and they gave me the chance that a lot of people looked over.”
In four games played with the team based in Thessaloniki, the University of Southern California product averaged 20.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per contest, pushing his side to a finishing W-L tally of 11-16 in the Regular Season.
“I am very grateful,” he added, “It is very family-oriented here. That is what I needed to get out of the shell I was in. So, I can’t see myself playing for any club overseas besides PAOK, no matter the league. If it is not the NBA, I will probably be here again.”
Coming out of USC, Porter Jr. was selected with the 30th overall pick of the 2019 NBA draft. He logged 196 appearances over four seasons between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets.
