Panathinaikos Athens beat Aris Thessaloniki 81 – 68 to advance to the 2024 Greek SuperCup Final. This was the first official game of the 2024-25 season for the reigning EuroLeague champions.

Kendrick Nunn scored 16 points for Panathinaikos while Panagiotis Kalaitzakis had 11 points. Omer Yurtseven grabbed 11 rebounds to go with his eight points.

Lefteris Bochorides led Aris with 16 points and James Banks added 11 points.

The two teams were close only for the first 15 minutes. Panathinaikos closed the first half with seven unanswered points to go up 44 – 30 and proceeded to establish a lead of 20 in the third quarter.

Aris fell behind 69 – 46 early in the fourth period, a margin that was way too much for the Thessaloniki side.

Νο Brown and Osman

Due to the six non-Greek players limit for domestic competitions with seven non-Greek being register, Cedi Osman was not among the available players.

Plus Lorenzo Brown who is among the seven registered players was not used, being the odd man out due to his injury woes. As coach Ataman explained, he will also miss tomorrow’s Final to be completely fit for the EuroLeague start of the season.

Panathinaikos will face the winner of the Olympiacos Piraeus – Peristeri game in the Final.
