In control through Round 5 of Greece’s Stoiximan GBL Regular Season, Olympiacos pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat AEK Betsson, 96-77, in SUNEL Arena on Sunday.
The Reds mishandled an early 15-point advantage but restored a safe lead down the stretch and jumped to 4-1.
Among five double-digit scorers for the team coached by Giorgos Bartzokas, Sasha Vezenkov scored 18 points with 7/10 field goals. Nikola Milutinov had 17 points, Tyler Dorsey followed with 15 points, Evan Fournier chipped in 14 points, and Alec Peters had ten points.
Keenan Evans (knee surgery) dealing with a long-term injury, Shaquielle McKissic and Luca Vildoza sat out due to league restrictions on foreign players in the lineup. Also, Naz Mitrou-Long stayed on the bench.
For the hosts, former Olympiacos forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas filed in a game-high 25 points.
Panathinaikos destroys Promitheas
A comfortable win, 92-67, for Panathinaikos Aktor over Promitheas Vikos Cola in OAKA Altion, later Sunday.
In his best performance since joining the Greens in late August, Omer Yurtseven tallied 24 points with 9/11 from the field. He added nine rebounds, five assists, and one block in 27 minutes. Konstantinos Mitoglou ended up with 18 points behind 6/7 field goals, including four triples.
Marius Grigonis (back) was sidelined once more and is considered doubtful to play in Round 8 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, against Olympiacos on Friday.
Resting for the team coached by Ergin Ataman, Mathias Lessort was not registered and Juancho Hernangomez did not play in the meeting with the Patras outfit.
