Having won the last three editions of the Greek Basketball Cup, Olympiacos looked forward to continuing the tradition of entering this year’s tournament.

It’s still unclear if they could go all the way to victory, potentially against the eternal rivals of Panathinaikos, but they have made a first step towards the trophy, beating Karditsas 71-54 in the Quarter-Finals to make it to the Semi-Finals.

Sasha Vezenkov was his team’s highest scorer with 19 points, followed by Alec Peters at 15. Nikola Milutinov went close to a double-double with 8 points and 12 rebounds.

There isn’t only good news for Georgios Bartzokas following this victory in the Quarter-Finals, as Thomas Walkup spent only 4:36 minutes on the court. He went to the locker rooms earlier than expected due to a back injury and didn’t return to action.

Earlier in the day, PAOK had a solid 84-65 victory against AEK to reach the Semi-Finals, with seven players in double-digits, including a performance of 17 points and 4 blocks from Cedric Henderson.

In the competition’s first gameday, Promitheas and Panathinaikos didn’t have any sort of problems respectively against Megaridos and Peristeri. Therefore, they will face each other in the Semi-Finals, just like PAOK and Olympiacos, successful on Thursday.
