Panathinaikos opened their Greek league campaign with a comfortable 103-74 victory over newly promoted Vikos Ioannina behind closed doors at OAKA.
Mathias Lessort led the way with 19 points, while Nigel Hayes-Davis added 15. Dinos Mitoglou and Guerschon Yabusele scored 14 apiece, with Yabusele also grabbing seven rebounds. Sylvain Francisco contributed 12 points and five assists, while Dimitris Moraitis finished with eight points and 10 assists.
Jordy Floyd and Kody Justice led the visitors with 14 points each, while Ioannis Agravanis added 12.
The victory wiped out Panathinaikos’ two-point deduction carried over from last season. They also served the first of four home games without spectators, while the injured Kendrick Nunn completed his suspension.
Elsewhere in Round 1 of Greece’s Stoiximan GBL Regular Season, Olympiacos encountered early trouble before taking care of business. After falling into an early double-digit hole in Thessaloniki, they bounced back in the second half to prevail, 78–68, over Iraklis.
Sasha Vezenkov tallied a team-high 14 points, while Codi Miller-McIntyre recorded 12 points, nine rebounds, and six assists for the team coached by Giorgos Bartzokas to secure the comeback victory. Despite the loss, Jalen Lecque put on an impressive individual performance, dropping a game-high 19 points for the hosts.
