Panathinaikos still undefeated, cruised over Aris

Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens remains undefeated with an easy 70-88 win over Aris Thessaloniki on the road. Pascual’s team improved its record to 8-0 while coach Giannakis’ team slipped to 3-5.

Both teams were playing great defensively and challenging its other in the first minutes of the game. Nick Calathes (11pts/2asts) in Q1), however, led his team to a four-point lead (17-21) by the end of the first. In the second quarter, the defending champions increased this lead to double-digits (27-37) and controlled the tempo of the game. The first half eventually ended a 15-point game in favor of ‘Pana’ (32-48).

In the second half, the lead remained in double-digit territory, as the visiting side had the upper hand in the contest. In the final 10 minutes of the game, Panathinaikos kept on building this lead and even went up by 22 points (52-74). Finally, the game ended 70-88.

For the winners, Nick Calathes was for one more game really impressive as he finished with 18 points and 8 assists while Chris Singleton added 9 points and 5 rebounds. For Aris, Keith Benson scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Yesterday, PAOK defeated Koroivos Amalidas 91 – 87 in overtime, away from home.
