Panathinaikos kept Olympiacos to merely 29 points in the second half to ultimately win the Greek League derby of the “eternal rivals” 68 – 61 and remain perfect in the championship.
This was the fourth loss in ten league games for Olympiacos that couldn’t keep up the high pace with which they entered the match. After storming with 11 – 20 in the first quarter, the Reds were completely outscored in all subsequent periods.
While KC Rivers preserved a “hot” tradition he carries against Olympiacos by notching a game-high 16 points while Lukas Lekavicious added 12. But the late offensive x-factor for Panathinaikos in the last quarter was 21-year-old Greek forward Dinos Mitoglou who dropped 7 points in 8 minutes of the final quarter. Quite the number for such a low-scoring game.
For Olympiacos, Giorgos Printezis posted a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds and Kostas Papanikolaou dropped 11 points.
