Promitheas Patras climbed to the third place of the Greek League standings and locked a spot in the Top 4, after defeating AEK Athens 76 – 75 on the road.
Nikos Gkikas was the one to score the game-winner, by nailing a 3-point bucket with 46 seconds remaining and his team down 74 – 73. These were his first points in the match.
Mike Green had an opportunity to tie the score in the next play but went 1/2 from the free-throw line. The two teams made consecutive errors in the last moments and Promitheas left OAKA victorious.
Chris Saloustros led Promitheas with a double-double performance of 15 points and 10 rebounds, both team-highs. Langston Hall and Muhammad Faye scored 14 points each with the latter also contributing seven boards.
For AEK, that dropped fifth in the standings, Manny Harris had 19 points and seven rebounds while Delroy James and captain Dusan Sakota added 11 points apiece. The Athenian team is hosting the Basketball Champions League Final Four that begins next Friday (4/5).
