PAOK and Kymi are the first two semifinalists of the 2018-2019 Greek Cup competition after beating defending champion AEK Athens and Peristeri in knockout quarterfinal games.
In Thessaloniki, PAOK went up 67 – 56 near the end of the third period, some minutes after the ejection of head coach Ilias Papatheodorou. AEK made a comeback attempt to tie the match 76 – 76 but the hosts had the final say in the match, winning 82 – 80 thanks to a basket by Alexander Philip Goss and a key offensive rebound by Vangelis Margaritis.
Jamal Jones scored 18 for the winning squad while Xavier Rathan-Mayes had 21 points for AEK.
A 3-point bucket by Devaugh Washington with 2 seconds remaining handed Kymii the 84 – 83 win over Peristeri and the Cup semifinals ticket for the first time in the history of the club.
Scott Suggs scored a game-high 22 points for Kymi. Ryan Harrow led Peristeri with 14 points.
On Sunday (4/11), Olympiacos Piraeus faces Kolossos Rhodes while Panathinaikos plays vs. Promitheas Patras on Monday (5/11).
