Panathinaikos almost gambled away a huge lead but managed to get away with an 80-75 home win against Peristeri on Day 8 of Greek League.
Nick Calathes and Nikos Pappas led the way with 20 points each while Calathes added nine assists as well. Deshaun Thomas added 13 points.
For Peristeri, Ryan Harrow scored 17 points in addition to Ed Daniel and Gaios Skordilis’ 11 each.
Panathinaikos was ahead 21-18 after ten minutes and held on until the halftime rest (43-39). They created some distance after the break leading by as much as 19 points (69-50) and although Peristeri got dangerously close (79-75), they couldn’t make the big upset.
Yesterday (9/12), Nigel Williams-Goss led Olympiacos past Rethymno.
Panathinaikos improved to 7-0 and handed Peristeri first loss of the season (7-1). Olympiacos also holds a 7-1 record while Kolossos is at the bottom with 1-7.
