Peristeri prevailed over Panathinaikos with an 80-72 victory at home in Day 21 of the Greek Basket League. For Rick Pitino’s squad, this is their first defeat of the season in the Greek League, though still remains on top of the standings.
Panathinaikos, that played without Nick Calathes, was trailed by the hosts in the last period, while had difficulty to overcome their defense and score, sealing the final result in Peristeri’s favor.
Steven Gray led the winners with a big 27-point performance, while DeShaun Thomas scored a team-high of 15 points for the Greens.
The two teams faced each other at an empty arena, following the home team’s punishment for the incidents that took place against Aris a couple of weeks ago.
It is to be noted that Peristeri got its first win against Panathinaikos in 16 long years.
