Olympiacos dominated the first half against Promitheas and eventually recorded a convincing 86-59 home win in their last game of the Greek League regular season.
Will Cherry led the victors with 17 points on 7-11 shooting while Zach LeDay added 13 points (5-7 FG) in addition to Vangelis Mantzaris and Nikola Milutinov’s ten points each with the latter also adding nine rebounds.
For Promitheas, Octavius Ellis and Terell Parks were the only double-digit scorers with ten points each.
It should be noted that Olympiacos was initially expected to forfeit the game but things changed after referee Panagiotis Anastopoulos informed the authorities that he will be unable to officiate the game and was replaced. That turn around wasn’t to Panathinaikos‘ liking and the ‘Greens’ forfeited their game vs. Kimi as a sign of protest which will cost them six points at the standings.
Due to various sanctions during the regular season including everything that transpired during this Gameday, the final standings and hence, the playoff matchups, will be ratified and set after a league meeting. There’s a high chance of Panathinaikos finishing third and Olympiacos sixth which would automatically pair them in the quarterfinals.
