Panathinaikos and AEK kick off Greek semifinals with wins

Jordan Theodore gave AEK the win over Promitheas in the final seconds while Panathinaikos dominated Peristeri in the Greek League semifinals

The Greek League semifinals kicked off today (29/5) with Panathinaikos and Promitheas grabbing the Game 1 wins in their respective matchups.

Panathinaikos recorded a convincing 91-68 home win over Peristeri led by Deshaun Thomas’ game-high 21 points and ten rebounds while Nick Calathes logged 19 points, 11 assists and six boards.

Matt Lojeski added 13 points while for Peristeri, Ben Bentil scored 19 points in addition to Zois Karabela’s 12 and Steven Gray’s 11 points.

AEK gambled away an early fourth-quarter lead (71-61) but still managed to defend their home court and prevail 83-82 over Promitheas.

Giannoulis Larentzakis led the victors with 19 points followed by Howard Sant-Roos’ 18 points and eight rebounds while Jordan Theodore scored 17 points including the free throw with one second remaining which set the final score.

For Promitheas, Rion Brown and Oleksandr Lypovyy both scored 13 points in addition to Octavius Ellis and Dimitrios Katsivelis’ 11 points each.
