Kristaps Porzingis was out for 20 months due to an ACL injury and one of his primary focuses this season with the Mavericks has been getting back to his best level of play, although, as he noted, it won’t come easy.
“Physically, I’m feeling pretty good. Maybe not from the beginning. In the beginning, I was feeling like… It takes time. Honestly, I didn’t realize it but it takes time. Where I’m still working my way back is the feel for the game. Here and there I rush some things and I’m just not completely there yet. I feel it,” Porzingis told Eurohoops.
However, he is doing everything he can to get there and meanwhile, the Mavs are having a good run: “I’m watching film, trying to calm myself down before the game. Sometimes I get too hyped up for the game. It takes me a little bit of time, to miss a couple of shots, sit down and come back into the game to be in rhythm more. I’m just working my way through that. Even without me playing at the best level, at the level I know I’m capable of, we’re winning and we’re winning pretty comfortably.”
He also shared a few words about Luka Doncic: “He’s just hooping. He’s playing really well. Shooting the ball well, putting up incredible numbers. He’s playing super well. Keep going. I don’t know what tell him, just keep hooping.”
