Daniel Hackett sat down with Eurohoops TV and talked about CSKA Moscow, his amazing comeback after his injury, as well as his goals both on a personal and professional level.
“I feel blessed to be and such an important club like CSKA, to play at the highest level with great players and to be coached by coach Itoudis”, says Hackett on coming back stronger and more experienced than ever.
Hackett suffered a hamstring tendon rupture and detachment that threatened to end his career, but today he has made amends with the past and evaluates it as “part of the game”.
“Knock on wood, you hate to see it but for sure I can speak for many players. It definitely makes you stronger when you come back, especially when you come back from big injuries. You know, it’s part of my past, it’s something that shaped me into the man I am today and for sure I tried to take something positive out of this, he tells Eurohoops.
The 2019 EuroLeague champion has many memories to cherish in his successful career and opens up about his biggest basketball dream.
“I want to stay at the highest level for many more years. I think point guards are lucky in that sense that they can play longer than others because they can view the game with their minds mostly. And they can play many more years”, he mentions.
When the time of retirement comes, Hackett wants to shift his focus to fatherhood. “This side of life is something that I discover day by day and to see my daughter grow up and develop is heartwarming. Now we are waiting for number two this summer. It’s going to be a boy so we are very happy and we feel lucky about this”.
