Satoransky: Imagine two months away from your family and just play five or six games

After an amazing run with the national team of the Czech Republic in the FIBA World Cup, Tomas Satoransky established himself in the NBA as a member of the Chicago Bulls.

And while the organization has turned the page by hiring Lithuanian Arturas Karnisovas to make the basketball-related decisions, Satoransky, one of the best European point guards of his generation, explained why for the Bulls players resuming the NBA season might not make much sense, unless there’s a chance to squeeze into the playoffs despite their 22-43 record.

Asked on the subject, Satoransky explained: “There are a few scenarios if we would actually be able to play for something like playoffs, that kind of changes everything because it gives you some motivation. It’s tough for a player, especially a player with a family. Imagine being two months separated from your family, just playing five or six games and be done with it.”

Satoransky also talked about his childhood idol Michael Jordan and the “Last Dance”, but admitted that he is trying to model his game after Manu Ginobili. He also talked about his relationship with Zach LaVine: “He surprised me a lot, from the beginning. I didn’t know what kind of person he was but he always seemed to me on the court as an arrogant superstar but he is such a nice guy. He’s funny and I think we had a good relationship. He’s not only an athlete and a dunker, he can do a lot of things. He still works on his game, he can still make better reads but he had an exceptional season, All-Star level for me”.
