JDA Dijon will face Turk Telekom in the quarterfinal stage of the upcoming Basketball Champions League Final Eight (30/9 – 4/10). Dijon veteran David Holston joined Eurohoops’ Basketball Champions League FinaL Eight Countdown to discuss the team’s participation in the tournament.
Holston explained how being the “underdogs” of this matchup motivates him and the team, as well as his expectations for the tournament in Athens.
“Anything can happen in this kind of tournaments. It can be anybody. We have some pretty good teams in the Final Eight. It comes down to whichever team plays together well and is ‘hot'”, told Holston. “In my whole career, I’ve been an underdog. As a team, we’ve been like that as well. Before the season they had as low in the standings. It puts a chip on our shoulder to wanna go out and prove something other than they see. It makes us wanna go hard to prove them wrong. It’s gotta be a tough test”.
“This is a really big event for me. To wake up and have a week ahead to win the championship, you have to take a big advantage of this, the most you can. You don’t get these opportunities all the time”, Holston mentioned.
