Fenerbahce Beko guard Scottie Wilbekin felt happy and also relieved to advance to the EuroLeague Final Four for the first time after eight seasons overall the competition and three with the Turkish side.

“It feels great. It especially feels great because this is why I came to Fenerbahce,” Wilbekin told Eurohoops. “If I was to be here for all three years of my contract and not make it, it would feel like a failure.”

Wilbekin was out with injury during the 2023 playoffs vs. Olympiacos Piraeus where Fenerbahce lost 2-3. This season, he posted 13.2 points on 50-40-90 shooting in the series vs. AS Monaco, including 14 points on 4-8 triples during the overtime win in the decisive Game 5.

“I know we almost made it last year but to do it this year, especially considering that I didn’t play in the playoffs last year, it feels really good finally making the Final Four,’ Wilbekin added.

Fenerbahce has played – and won – several close games during the season. Does Wilbekin agree that this will prove to be extra helpful for the Final Four?

“It’s just one game so anything can happen,” Wilbekin said. “I think it just comes down to which teams executes the game plan the best and limits the mistakes. I think this is the team that wins.”
