Two years ago Sarunas Jasikevicius had the chance to retire in order to be the coach of Panathinaikos. He decided to continue his career, played in one more Final Four with Barcelona and after that he returned to Lithuania for Zalgiris.
This summer he decided that it was time to step off the court as a player and he is getting ready for his return at OAKA as a coach. However, on Thursday’s practice, being on the gym he was loved by the Greek fans, he answered the big question. How he decided to finally call it a day and be a coach and if he misses being a player.
Here’s his – sincere as always – answer: “Yes I do realise that I accepted it… I accepted it pretty quickly and moved on to the coaching part. But ok… this is the think I will miss for the rest of my life. Coming and playing in games like these, be on the court in front of a lot of people, trying to do what’s you have to do, which is play basketball. The feeling is always going to be sad for not playing any more but life is like this, you have to move on”.
