Sarunas Jasikevicius is one of the most successful players in history of Euroleague taking part in six Euroleague Final Four in his career and winning four of them. The Lithuanian legend stole the who in most of them receiving multiple MVP awards and titles. However, at the debate of Eurohoops he chooses a best of five – or even seven – series over the final four format just like it happens in NBA. Moreover, Saras reels the way that this plan could be successful.
“I am kind of 50-50 but I think I am in favor a little bit on the series. I think it would be more basketball but I also think it is difficult with the national championships and how you spread the game. I believe that if we talk only about basketball it’s great. it would eliminate surprises also, which is sometimes good, sometimes bad. I think Ι am a little bit in favor of series. A series of five – or of seven games, why not – it will demonstrate the top level of European basketball”.
Do you think that Europe is ready for something like this?
“It is not easy with the traveling. Probably, Euroleague and Turkish Airlines could help a little bit with the traveling, that’s why they have the sponshorship. If you travel with the regular airlines it’s tough and difficult to do it. I think for the fans it would be great”.
